2023-03-12 Swanpool Motor Festival
The sixth Swanpool Motor Festival will be held on Sunday 12th March 2023, Labour Day weekend. Last year’s festival had over 350 vehicles on display, including cars, bikes, trucks, tractors and race cars.
The Albert Heaney Oval Committee invites you as a past entrant, your family and friends to attend our Festival commencing at 8am with entry being $5 adults and children under 16 free. The Festival is a community event, with display vehicles, swap meet and market stalls, run by locals to raise funds to upkeep the Swanpool Oval and amenities. The Festival is held on the Swanpool Oval, 2426 Midland Highway, Swanpool which is situated between Mansfield and Benalla.
Display vehicles are parked on the oval with an entry fee of $10 (including two adults) and must remain parked on the oval until 2pm when a prize pool (last year over $5600) will be handed out to the winners. Vehicles are not judged as a show and shine event. The first winner will be drawn from a box (of entry forms) who will then come up and draw his or her prize from another box (containing prizes). That winner will then draw the next winner from the box and it will continue until all prizes have been distributed. If a winner is drawn out and is not still in attendance then another draw will take place. This ensures that all prizes are given away on the day and that every entrant has the same chance to win and the same chance to win the major prizes.
Last year’s Festival saw a record of $5600 in prizes divided into a minimum of $100 or more, handed out to the 23 winning entrants. All prizes are donated by local businesses located in Benalla, Mansfield and Swanpool. 2023 will also see another innovation in the prize system with prizes also awarded in the same manner as the 2pm draw. However, these prizes will be given away on the hour from 11am, Midday, 1pm and then the major awards at 2pm. If you get there early you can pick up a prize and still be in the draw at 2pm. Every entrant has the chance to win more than once.
Entry to the event for display vehicles which includes, cars, bikes, trucks, buses, tractors, race cars, boats and anything with an engine is via Swanpool-Lima Road at the southern end of the oval off the Midland Highway.
The Festival is sponsored by Shannons Insurance and they are supplying a “People’s Choice Trophy” valued at $100 that will be presented at 2pm as a result of electronic voting system provided by “Car Torque”. Each display vehicle will have card on display, with a bar code that anybody can vote for. The “Car Torque” voting system will also provide vouchers from “Auto 1” to the first three vehicles voted for. First place along with the “Shannons Trophy” will receive a $150 “Auto 1” voucher, 2nd place a $100 voucher and third place $50 voucher. Voters also have the chance to win a $100 “Auto 1” voucher as selected by “Car Torque.”
The major sponsors for the event are Vacuum Truck Supplies, Martins Garage, High Country Parts both located in Mansfield and Benalla Motorcycles & Power Equipment. Our other sponsors are Delatite Mowers and Chainsaws, Paul’s Property Maintenance and DAM Classic Racing.
The Festival will have live music performed by local band “Rattler” along with Food, Drinks and Coffee vans on site.
The Swanpool Motor Festival is run in a very relaxed atmosphere, with a local band playing live music allowing car owners and the public to inspect the vehicles, the swap meet and market stalls and sit back and enjoy the food, the drinks in a stunning country setting.
